Reading While Black

Before I interviewed Esau McCaulley, we prayed together. We asked God for the standard things, but one of his prayers jumped out at me: he prayed that he might honor the Lord with his posture.

The Freedom Christ Offers

Freedom means different things to different people. To a man like John Knox, it meant being released from the harsh labor of serving on a French galley ship so he could preach the gospel. To the American Sons of Liberty, it meant taxation with representation. To a slave like Frederick Douglass, it meant crossing the Mason-Dixon line and escaping the whip of the master in the South.

Word Nerd

James Strong’s 1890 Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible is one of the most frequently cited Bible study resources out there—perhaps because it is freely available in many places online. But its dictionary portion is often misused. I humbly offer three reasons why you should use better resources if you can.
