Wayne Grudem became Research Professor of Bible and Theology at Phoenix Seminary in 2001, after teaching at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for 20 years. He has served as president of the Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, as president of the Evangelical Theological Society (1999), and as a member of the Translation Oversight Committee for the English Standard Version of the Bible. To be honest this work seems to me more like a collection of bible study group material for American Evangelical laypeople than a Systematic or Biblical Theology. If people want to read a very simple and ultra conservative perspective, this work has a place. But for a serious work of Biblical or Systematic Theology I would recommend other scholars' works.

Grudem is vastly overrated as an ethicist, thinker and theologian. This has the advantage of being readable for the untrained, but this means that it appeals to readers who are unaware of its methodological shallowness. Look elsewhere.

I am listening to the Audible of the second edition reading along with this version. It is very similar. I can follow Grudem's flow easily and on the parts that are different, see any changes that are worthy of noting. I like the PDF's that go along with the 2 massive audible books (about 80 hrs). Grudem is right up my alley for theological systematics. The new editions are really for people who have not purchased the old ones, and Logos does not offer nominal upgrades worth purchasing, so I am happy with this edition.
