“If you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.”

(Proverbs 2:4–6, RSVCE)

Search where you want

Search your entire library, in specific collections, or in an individual resource. Your searches can be as broad or as narrow as you’d like.

Control the context

Use powerful search operators to find words and ideas, even when they don’t appear together. Searching for “Lord ANDNOT Jesus” returns a list of every instance of “Lord” being used without being accompanied by the name of “Jesus.” Searching “Jesus NEAR life” results in a list of every passage in which Jesus’ name appears near the word “life.”

See every time a passage is cited in particular books

Search results are populated with all the instances in which a particular passage is cited in a resource. A basic search for “John 6” in the Catechism of the Catholic Church reveals the Church’s traditional, Eucharistic understanding of the passage. Quickly switch the search to all the Church documents in your library and expand the results.

Search in the original languages

Verbum’s advanced search allows you to search for Greek words in all your resources—without a Greek keyboard. If you start typing the transliterated Greek word “agape,” Verbum will recognize that you’re looking for “ἀγάπη” and display results for each occurrence of the word.
