Overview

To understand the glorious truth of the pure grace of God and the believer’s freedom in Christ, study Galatians under the capable instruction of the late M. R. De Haan, one of America’s most beloved Bible teachers.

This devotional commentary explores the main theme and important passages of the apostle Paul’s letter to the early church in Galatia.

Top Highlights

“Now when we add something, we of course imply and pre-suppose that there was something to which to add. To what then was the law added? Under what did men live before God gave the law by Moses? We all know the answer—it was the Grace of God. Adam was under grace, Noah was under grace, Abraham was under grace. God dealt in grace before the law, and during the law, and since the law. He still deals in grace.” (Page 118)

“Hannah, the mother of Samuel, gives a marvelous definition of grace in her prayer of thanksgiving in 1 Samuel 2:6–8” (Page 35)

“Salvation by grace, wholly apart from the works of the Law, was for all, the Jews as well as the Gentiles” (Page 12)

“answer to this soul-damning error. It is the Epistle to the Romans, summed up in Romans 3:28,” (Page 13)

“Those who are under the law are servants; those who are under grace are sons. A servant works for wages; a son works through love and personal interest.” (Pages 141–142)
