These books are excellent. After having only been taught the futurist, dispensationalist position my entire life, I struggled with years of confusion due to contradictions between what I was reading in the Bible as opposed to what was being preached from seemingly every preacher or Bible teacher, who only seemed to believe in a pre-tribulation rapture and newspaper exegesis. To my astonishment, for the first time, the entire book of Revelation made perfect sense, as Dr. Gentry presents a strong, convincing case for the preterist view. His careful analysis of historical evidence to argue for an early date for the Book of Revelation, was quite sensible. By establishing the timing for Revelation’s prophecies before the destruction of the second temple in 70 A.D., he not only confirmed and defended the prophecies of Jesus, but he skillfully dismantled opposing arguments for a late date. In doing so, his case for Nero having been the beast of Revelation, citing from Christian and secular sources as to the years before, during and after his reign, made even more sense. He provides strong, well-researched facts, careful attention to detail, citing texts from the entire Bible, not just the NT. He also does a great job of confirming that the Bible really does interpret its own symbols. Dr. Gentry’s books optimized for Logos were hard to put down, and it was great to be able to fully appreciate all the citations instantly available in Logos. I am no longer in a frantic quest for understanding eschatology, nor conflicted, because Dr. Gentry’s books confirm what the Bible teaches by unlocking all the symbols of Revelation. He presented his case in a loving way, with great humility toward his opponents, which was also refreshing. Be prepared to be impressed, unlocking the treasures of God’s Word with these three excellent books by Dr. Gentry.

These are well worth the read. They can be used as an intro or at least a prelude to Ken's massive commentary on the Book of Revelation that will be coming out shortly....well, "shortly", from a preterist and postmil perspective anyway. Heh.

If you are curious about the preterist position, these books are a must read. Do yourself a favor and learn about preterism from scholars who actually subscribe to it instead of from only critics. Most critics misrepresent this view.
