Francis Schaeffer’s writings marked a watershed in Christian thinking. Through his books and teaching at l’Abri, in the Swiss Alps he has deeply affected a generation of Christians. These four volumes present Schaeffer’s challenge to Christians to live out their lives in a way that is honorable and active in the public sphere. Warning against the decline of western civilization and Christianity, Schaeffer’s works are a prominent and public voice grounded in scripture and a strong emphasis upon his theological sanctification.
Francis A. Schaeffer (1912–1984) authored more than 20 books, which have been translated into a score of languages and sold millions worldwide. He and his wife, Edith, founded L’Abri Fellowship international study and discipleship centers. Recognized internationally for his work in Christianity and culture, Schaeffer passed away in 1984 but his influence and legacy continue worldwide.
