Overview

Bible Project is a nonprofit, crowdfunded organization that produces free Bible videos, podcasts, blogs, classes, and educational Bible resources to help make the biblical story accessible to everyone everywhere. Our Bible resources help people experience the Bible in a way that is approachable, engaging, and transformative. We do this by showcasing the literary art of the Scriptures and tracing biblical themes from beginning to end. Rather than taking the stance of a specific tradition or denomination, we create materials to elevate the Bible for all people and draw our eyes to its unified message.

  • Showcases the literary art of the Scriptures
  • Traces biblical themes from beginning to end
  • Elevates the Bible for all people and emphasizes its unified message

I'll add a 2nd review...How to Read the Bible - Episode 5 - because Gideon wanted a sign from God, "God stooped to his level". This makes God sound like many modern day parents...the child throws a fit so the parent gives in...stooping to the child's level to appease. I'm not looking for problems with these videos but there are glaring ones.

In the story of the fall of man (How to Read the Bible - Episode 2), Satan is not named. "Dark mysterious creature" - Is there any doubt who this is? Why not give the name - SATAN???

The Old Testament and New Testament Overview series that covers all 66 books provide an outstanding overview of the literary structure of each book, a big help in seeing the threads of common themes, and a great picture of The Lord's redemptive plan through Jesus woven through each book. Recently, I had the thought that it would be cool to read through the entire bible in a day. With the idea that if someone were able to accomplish such a thing, potentially, much of the detail would be fresh in the mind and allow the reader to connect the scriptures and also connect _to_ the scriptures in a unique way. In climbing, a big challenge is to try to tackle objectives that would normally take multiple days to climb, in a single day. There are popular ones like NIAD, HIAD, or RIAD (Nose in a day (of El Capitan), Half Dome in a day, Rainier in a day). Not only does moving fast reduce exposure to weather hazards, but you get to experience the grandeur of its particular path and it's setting amid creation over the course of a short, memorable time, and most of all, it tests a person's grit - their fitness both physical and mental, and whether or not their preparation was enough. I don't expect to be able to ever read through the entire Bible in a day, but interestingly, a run through the Bible Project Overview Series may allow a 'mere mortal' to take a rendition of this trip through the scriptures in an achievable manner -- connecting the testaments, seeing the themes, hearing the overarching messages, and perhaps something else entirely too. The adventure awaits. I question whether someone, having gone and done it, would come back and say, "Nah, I did it, and I didn't gain anything from it." Here are the collective times of the videos series: Old Testament Overview Series: 5 hr, 12 min, 19 sec of video New Testament Overview Series: 4 hr, 33 min, 49 sec Total: 9 hr, 46 min, 8 sec
