Jacob seems to be anything but a model disciple, though we can learn a lot from his journey.
He’s a trickster, liar, and selfishly ambitious man who fathers children with four women and leads a dysfunctional family rife with jealousy and backstabbing.

This is a good read, and a fascinating journey through Jacob’s life. The Author has a down-to-earth approach to the Patriarch whilst always keeping Jesus Christ firmly in focus. He also opens up about his own life and faith journey, which is done well and adds to the points he is making. This is the sort of book that encourages you to get into the Old Testament, and gives a more realistic and Scriptural view to a character we often only recall from Sunday School stories. The 30+ chapters also work well as Bible Studies or as Devotions. I took one of them and gave to our women’s fellowship to use as a devotional study, and they really enjoyed it. Each chapter does have useful discussion questions. Whilst well indexed, I would have appreciated a “For Further Reading” section. I would highly recommend this to all my fellow Christians.
