Overview
In Mary for All Christians one of Britain’s most distinguished and well-loved Reformed theologians explains basic Christian beliefs held about Mary, the Mother of Jesus Christ. Mary for All Christians deals unflinchingly with questions that have been matters of fierce controversy: the Marian dogmas and Catholic devotions, including current debates concerning the place of Mary in Scripture, and the meaning of her Immaculate Conception and Assumption, as well as the proposal for a new Marian dogma (Co-redemption). Each chapter explores a different event associated with Mary, including the meaning of the feminine in Christianity, and compares the values represented by Mary in Catholic devotion with those prevalent in today’s society. This updated second edition of a key text of the ecumenical movement also includes a new introduction and takes account of the current Roman Catholic debates on the subject of “Mary Corredemptrix.”

About Dr. John Macquarrie
Dr. John Macquarrie taught at the Union Theological Seminary in New York. He was Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity at Oxford, and served as Canon of Christ Church College until his retirement. He is author of numerous works in theology and philosophy.
