Digital Verbum Edition
The doctrine of illumination spans the Scriptures. God has clearly spoken regarding the way in which he opens the minds of people to his Word. Expository Illumination will use four categories in order to organize scriptural references regarding the role of illumination:
Condemnation - referring to the person who is without illumination and is rejecting the Word of God.
Conversion - speaking of the transformation that takes place when God changes a heart and gives illumination.
Communication - speaking of how prophets, preachers, and evangelists are illumined to preach God’s Word, and how hearers are illumined by the preaching of God’s Word.
Convictions - which are gained as believers are enriched in their own spiritual walks, acquiring greater certainty and affection over spiritual truth as they are illumined by the Spirit and his Word.
