Studies in the Torah, Vol. 5: Deuteronomy

Studies in the Book of Deuteronomy for the weekly Torah readings, according to both the Annual and Triennial cycles of readings. This fifth volume of Studies in the Torah comprises the teaching notes the author has used for their weekly Shabbat studies at Beit Hallel in Tacoma, WA. The studies that follow, therefore, do not comprise a commentary on the book of Deuteronomy, at least not as we usually think of a commentary that deals with the text on a verse-by-verse or section-by-section basis, giving a detailed explanation of the biblical text. Rather, the author has concentrated on various themes that are apparent in Deuteronomy and sought to show how the narrative highlights and carries forward these themes.
