Overview

Explore Holy Tradition’s vital role within the life of the Orthodox Church. Theology professor Harry Boosalis gives special attention to how Holy Tradition serves as the common fount of the shared spiritual and liturgical life—as well as the theological teachings—that unite all Orthodox as one.

Holy Tradition: Ecclesial Experience of Life in Christ offers a deeper understanding of Holy Tradition and Orthodox theology, engaging a range of important topics such as “Christ as the Core of Holy Tradition,” “Tradition as the Life of the Holy Spirit in the Church,” “Tradition as Personal Participation,” “Holy Tradition and Holy Scripture,” and the proper relationship between Tradition and ethnic customs.

Based on Holy Scripture and patristic teaching, this study refers to the writings of a wide variety of Orthodox theologians, especially from Eastern European backgrounds. Although intended as introductory lectures for first-year seminarians, the text’s reader-friendly style is ideal for anyone interested in Eastern Christian spirituality and the study of Orthodox theology.
