Overview

In his youth, D.S. Martin read every book he could find by C.S. Lewis. Martin found that Lewis—a respected scholar in a variety of fields who held passionately to his faith in Christ—engaged his mind like no other writer. Years later, Martin found his writing full of ideas that had been planted in his mind by Lewis.

Each of Martin’s poems in Conspiracy of Light springs directly from Lewis’ life and work. The inspiration for some poems will be obvious to readers of Lewis. The notes at the end of the volume—although unnecessary for reading the poems, direct readers to the source material. Martin’s poems will expand your appreciation of one of the twenty-first century’s most influential Christian writers.

In the Logos edition, this volume is enhanced by amazing functionality. Scripture citations link directly to English translations, and important terms link to dictionaries, encyclopedias, and a wealth of other resources in your digital library. —Malcolm Guite, author, Sounding the Seasons

Don Martin’s new poetry not only sheds new light on Lewis’ life and vision, but enlarges, crystallizes, and embodies themes of import to Lewis, and to all of us as readers. Conspiracy of Light is an expansive, exploratory, and reflective invitation to fresh understandings of Lewis, who, a poet himself, might find in these imaginative re-creations a worthy tribute. Martin’s penetrating yet accessible poems shine their points of light on Lewis and on life.
