Jim Backburn is a Catholic Answers staff apologist. A cradle-Catholic born and raised in southern Illinois, he is a graduate of Southern Illinois University. He had studied Catholicism and other faiths for many years as an amateur apologist before going on the 2003 Catholic Answers apologetics cruise. After the cruise, he felt called to leave his career of nearly 20 years in the mortgage industry and to become a full-time apologist. In addition to supervising the Q&A department at Catholic Answers, Jim also is a columnist for This Rock magazine, a regular guest on the Catholic Answers Live radio program, and the author of 101 Quick Questions with Catholic Answers: Marriage, Divorce, and Annulment.
