Overview

Are you living for God’s pleasure or for your own? Pleasing God is not a matter of personal choice, but an imperative that must be taken seriously. In a world of self, we must give way to the priority of God if we want to experience His joy. In this popular book, Alistair identifies ten benchmarks from Scripture that will prove invaluable as you seek to live a life that is pleasing to God. His clear, personal message will challenge and revitalize your faith.

Top Highlights

“Howard Hendricks once described the local church as a football game: twenty-two people on the field, badly in need of a rest, and forty thousand in the stands, badly in need of exercise.” (Page 35)

“Prayer is the fresh air, witness and worship are the exercise, and a balanced intake of biblical instruction is the good diet.” (Page 41)

“The Christian faith is like a muscle. The more we exercise, the more we build it, but when we neglect it, it atrophies.” (Page 40)

“against the plumb line of Scripture. We are not going to assume we are spiritually fit simply because we feel we are.” (Page 34)
