About Ian R. K. Paisley
Ian R. K. Paisley, born in 1926, is a Northern Ireland theologian, politician, and the founder of the Free Presbyterian Church. A member of Parliament for over thirty years, he was a clergyman for even longer. His political activism and influence in the Free Presbyterian Church have left a lasting mark in Northern Ireland, and all five of his children are highly involved with either politics or theology.

The Ian Paisley is synonymous in the Republic of Ireland with Northern Irish bigotry and British imperialism. Here is a man who claimed to be working for God's kingdom yet I dare say very few Catholics in the Republic ever heard him preach the Prince of Peace. Even if they did, his vitriolic hatred would have effectively blocked them from ever responding in anything but revulsion. The Irish feel, or have felt in the past, very strongly that their land was raped and pillaged by the English for many long centuries. To have this supposed minister of the Gospel stand up and seemingly support that and cry out for its continuance, and to remain silent in the face of Protestant terrorism (yes, it wasn't only the Catholic IRA blowing people up), is beyond reason for a man who claims to be born again of the Spirit of God and wishes all men to be saved.Faithlife User
