Overview

Randy Pope has created a blueprint for pastors and church planters with The Intentional Church. Such an organization must model a dynamic spirit of worship and servanthood that will cause it to become a magnet for people needing help. Part of the blueprint involves having a God-honoring purpose, a faith-oriented commitment, a well-defined mission, a biblically-based job description, and more.

In the Logos edition, this volume is enhanced by amazing functionality. Important terms link to dictionaries, encyclopedias, and a wealth of other resources in your digital library. Perform powerful searches to find exactly what you’re looking for. Take the discussion with you using tablet and mobile apps. With Logos Bible Software, the most efficient and comprehensive research tools are in one place, so you get the most out of your study.

Top Highlights

“Many people wrongly assume that seeking to do the will of God with proper motives guarantees success. We need to be aware that it is quite possible to do what we think to be God’s will and to do so with the proper motive, and still completely fail. Or to put it bluntly, sometimes God’s will involves our failure.” (Pages 44–45)

“Third, the transforming church accepts its commission to take up the battle for the souls of lost people.” (Page 26)

“the Enemy’s power has not increased; Christ’s church has simply failed to take her role seriously” (Page 21)

“a vision for the transformation that we are to bring about in the lives of each person” (Page 54)

“In 1899, Theodore Roosevelt said, ‘Far better to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.’ Though in full agreement, I would go further. I would say, ‘Far better to attempt something great for God and fail, and yet still hear Him say in eternity, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have pleased Me by your life of faith,’ than to succeed in great things yet fail to hear His applause because of our lack of faith.’” (Page 51)
