Nommé après le théologien Suisse, cette traduction de la Bible est un de plus populaire traduction dans la francophonie au milieu protestant. L’Ancien Testament a été publié en 1874 et le Nouveau en 1880.
C’est bien une des plus populaire traductions en français car : 1. La fidélité aux langues grec et hébreu; 2. Une langage très rigoureuse sans être trop complexe; 3. Un vocabulaire très riche et simple pour l’époque qu’il a été publié.
