Overview

“In the beginning was the Word.” These opening words from the Gospel of John draws a portrait of Jesus as the Divine Logos, the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus has a dual role as Revealer and Redeemer. He came to reveal the Father and to take away “the sin of the world.” As the Logos, Jesus continued God’s creative and redemptive work, turning water to wine and giving sight to a blind man. As the Revealer, Jesus revealed that He and the Father were one, so those who saw Him, saw the Father. All that Jesus does and says points beyond and above to the knowledge of God, through Jesus' revelation of the Father, which reaches its fulfillment in His death on the cross and His triumphant resurrection from the grave. Top Highlights

“To discover His true nature and position He filled toward Israel and the world, they would need to weigh the testimony He had given from the beginning of Himself. These Jews had heard the testimony of Jesus and still refused to accept it.” (Volume 2, Page 43)

“Mere mental acceptances of Jesus is not enough; there must be a surrender to Him as personal deliverer from bondage to Satan and to sin. Having come to faith, you must continue and abide in the Word by making it the rule of your life.” (Volume 2, Page 44)

“It is true that Jesus trod the winepress alone, drank the cup of wrath for our sins alone and paid the penalty for our guilt alone, yet this was the Father’s will and Jesus did it. For this purpose Jesus came into the world, and even though the cup was bitter, He fulfilled His mission alone. Paying the price for our sin on the cross does not mean that at that hour Jesus acted of Himself, in any way disowning His Father or His Father disowning Him.” (Volume 2, Page 43)

“After listening to the teachings of Jesus, many believed on Him in spite of the hostility” (Volume 2, Page 44)

“Just what I have been saying to you from the beginning.’ Jesus declared Himself to be the expected One” (Volume 2, Page 43)
