Common questions about our subscriptions
01
What are the new Verbum subscriptions?
The next major version of Verbum is here and available in three subscription tiers designed to fit the main ways people use Verbum: small group prep (Premium), sermon prep (Pro), and academic and original language study (Max). We hope to give users exactly what they need—no more, no less. We want users to feel like their Verbum subscription exactly fits their needs.
Along with these new subscriptions, we’re launching new libraries to enhance every new feature and pair perfectly with our subscriptions.
02
Why is Verbum moving to a subscription?
The world is changing fast, and customers have told us that they don’t want to have to wait two years to get new and improved features that would help them get deeper insights in less time. As a result, Verbum must evolve to enable the pursuit of truth at the same pace as the world we live in. With a subscription, you’ll get new features and improvements as soon as they’re ready—no more waiting for two years.
We’ll also be able to respond to your needs faster, turning good features into great ones and releasing new capabilities created to meet specific needs. Plus, we can include advanced AI and cloud-backed features that require ongoing support and help make Verbum both easier to use and more powerful so that you can focus on understanding and communicating Scripture and Tradition. You’ll also enjoy valuable perks and lower upfront costs, making it easier to try Verbum without a big commitment.
03
Will I lose my features, books, or investment in Verbum?
No, your investment in Verbum is safe, and you’ll always be able to access your content in Verbum for free.
You aren’t required to subscribe to keep your access to content or features you already own. The subscription is for anyone who wants access to the latest version of Verbum which will get new features or improvements roughly every six weeks.
If you’ve already purchased Verbum packages or feature sets, those are yours to keep—you won’t lose them. You’ll continue to be able to use the features you’ve paid for, regardless of whether you subscribe to the latest version.
04
Do I have to subscribe to keep access to Verbum?
No, you won’t be forced to subscribe to Verbum.
Unlike most software companies, we make our latest software available to everyone. Even if the last feature set you bought was Verbum 7, you’ll continue to receive free app updates, ensuring you can keep using Verbum anytime you change computers or upgrade your operating system. You’ll continue to receive bug fixes for free, too. What you won’t get is access to the powerful new and improved features that will be offered in the subscription version of Verbum.
05
Is there Dynamic Pricing or subscription discounts for Verbum owners?
There is no Dynamic Pricing on subscriptions, however, we wanted to honor those loyal to Verbum and keep to the spirit of Dynamic Pricing. This means all customers who own a base package will receive special pricing on our new subscriptions. Verbum 10 owners will receive the best subscription prices based on their feature set. Customers who own any base package (regardless of version or level) will also receive a slightly smaller discount. If you cancel your subscription, you will still be eligible for your discount should you return to the subscription again. Log in to verbum.com and check your price here.
06
Can I switch my monthly subscription to an annual subscription, or change to a different tier?
Yes, you can manage your Verbum subscription by going to https://verbum.com/account/subscriptions. From there, you can turn off auto-renew, switch your term length, or change your subscription plan.
07
Can I switch from a monthly subscription to an annual subscription and pay for two years upfront, or add a second year to my annual subscription?
Not yet, but we plan to offer this ability soon!
08
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes, just visit https://verbum.com/account/subscriptions.
09
Can I return my subscription for a refund within the 30-day return window?
No. Our 30-day return policy applies to one-time product purchases, such as the 2025 Library, not to subscriptions. When you subscribe, you receive immediate access to a curated collection of books and tools, along with exclusive benefits and updates. For this reason, we do not offer refunds on subscription fees.
If you have any questions, please contact our Customer Support team at cs@Verbum.com. For assistance with getting the most out of your subscription, you can find support articles at support.Verbum.com, or sign up for live training webinars.
10
Will the free version of Verbum continue to be available?
Yes, it will still be available. We want Verbum to continue to be the most accessible and powerful place for Catholics to study the riches of our faith.
You can see details of the current free edition here. With it, Catholics of every vocation can grow in their knowledge of Sacred Scripture and Tradition with access to resources and features like Bible Word Study, the Basic Bible Study workflow, and a limited version of Factbook without having to pay anything.
11
Can I still buy and keep books, or will they be a subscription too?
None of this changes. You’ll still be able to purchase books, either individually or in a collection, and you’ll own them forever.
You’ll still be able to buy permanent access to Verbum libraries and any other books from our catalog. In the future, we may add rental options for those who want it, but we don’t foresee a time when we’ll stop selling permanent licenses to books and curated libraries.
12
If I buy new books or libraries while I’m subscribed and then unsubscribe, will I lose them?
No, the books or libraries you buy are yours forever. If you unsubscribe, you will only lose access to what was included in the subscription.
13
When will denominational libraries be available for purchase, and will I be able to get 30% off?
More 2025 libraries will be available in Q1 of 2025. When they launch, subscribers will be eligible for a 30% discount—even if they've already purchased a 2025 library for 30% off.
14
Can I give Verbum to someone?
Yes, contact our sales team to get help blessing a friend with a Verbum subscription or library.
15
Is my investment safe with Verbum?
Yes, Verbum is in a strong financial position and well-equipped to serve you and our mission for the long haul.
16
Where can I see the terms I agree to when I subscribe?
17
If I don’t subscribe to Verbum or cancel my subscription, will my software eventually stop working?
No, your software won’t stop working. If you don’t subscribe, you’ll miss out on the powerful new and improved features that are exclusive to subscribers – but all Verbum users will continue to receive bug fixes and compatibility updates to ensure you can continue to keep using Verbum far into the future.
18
If I don’t subscribe to Verbum or cancel my subscription, will I lose any of the features I already own?
No, you won’t lose features you already own just because you’re not a subscriber. All Verbum users can continue to use features and books that they’ve purchased in the past. You won’t lose those features or books you already own just because you don’t subscribe or because you cancel your subscription. (We occasionally remove old features from the software if they’re no longer helpful. For example, in 2024, we removed Community Notes, Handout Documents, and Faithlife Assistant. That happens only rarely, and if so, it would affect all users, including subscribers.)

- This applies to most products sellable on verbum.com, excluding:
- Gift cards

- Group licenses
- Other exclusions may apply.
03
What Mobile Ed courses are available in each subscription tier?
Beginning in 2026, Mobile Ed perks course access for Verbum will match course access offered with Verbum subscriptions. Go to this page each quarter to see included selections.
04
How does the 5% annual reward program work?
Pro and Max subscribers are eligible for the 5% annual reward program. This program gives subscribers a coupon worth 5% off all qualifying purchases made while continuously subscribed during the past calendar year—including qualifying items in the transaction that initiated the subscription.
To receive the reward, subscribers must remain active on a Pro or Max subscription until the reward coupon is issued. For example, if you downgrade from or cancel a Pro or Max subscription, and restart it later in the year, only the purchases made after returning to the subscription will be included in the 5% annual reward.
- Reward coupon codes will be sent each February. If you’re eligible, you’ll receive an email providing the code and the amount earned. We’ll share reminders in other places as well (e.g., our community).
- Reward coupon codes must be used on a single purchase and expire 90 days from issuance. Since the reward is one-time use only, any unused amount will not carry over to any other transaction. (For example, if your reward code is $6, use it on a purchase greater than $6 to redeem the entire value.)
Usage restrictions:
- Must be an active Pro or Max subscriber.
- Purchases of credit, subscriptions, bulk licenses, and group licenses will not count toward the 5% promo code, nor will tax or payment plan fees.
- 5% promo code can NOT be used to purchase the following items: purchase of credit, bulk licenses, and is subject to other exemptions.
- Only purchases made during the time you are a subscriber qualify for rewards.
- Purchases made with Verbum credit will earn rewards.
- Promo codes are non-transferable and not retroactive.
- Single-use only.
Common questions about the Legacy Fallback License
FAQ
01
Who is eligible for the Legacy Fallback License?
If you’ve ever purchased a Verbum 10 or earlier package and subscribe before December 7, 2026, you are eligible to earn the Legacy Fallback License. It will be delivered starting October 30, 2026, to those who have been subscribed for 24 months.
Sign in to see features included on this page. The Legacy Fallback License is static and will not change to add additional features after October 30, 2026.
02
If I'm a new subscriber with no prior Verbum ownership, can my account earn a Legacy Fallback License?
No, the ability to earn a Legacy Fallback License was made available only for previous Verbum package customers who stuck with us as we moved to a subscription model.
03
What is a Legacy Fallback License?
A Legacy Fallback License allows eligible users to keep offline features after subscribing for 24 consecutive months. Instead of falling back to a previous version of Verbum, you'll keep features from your subscription tier that don't rely on the cloud or AI.*
Please see this page for more details on what’s included.
The Legacy Fallback License will be available beginning on October 29, 2026. After 24 consecutive months, even if that falls before October 29, 2026, you'll be eligible to receive the Legacy Fallback License associated with your subscription tier.
For example: If you subscribed to Logos Pro (early access) via a 30-day free trial on June 1, 2024, after renewing on May 1, 2026 (your 24th consecutive month), you will receive the license as soon as it is available on October 29, 2026.
*If you’ve already purchased Verbum packages or feature sets, those are yours to keep—you won’t lose them. You’ll continue to be able to use the features you’ve paid for.
04

06
Do I need to do anything to receive my Legacy Fallback License, or is it automatic?
Your Legacy Fallback License will be automatically processed as a free order on the date you’ve earned it. Nothing for you to do after that.
07
I’ve earned a Legacy Fallback License, but I’m not seeing it. Why not?
Thanks for raising that! If you’re not seeing your unlocked Legacy Fallback License, it may be because your two-year anniversary date hasn’t passed yet. Sign in and take a look here, and if that date has passed, you can reach out to our team for help.
08
Are the books included with the subscriptions included in the Legacy Fallback License?
No, the Legacy Fallback License allows you to retain access to Verbum features, but it won’t give you permanent book ownership.
Please see this page for more details on what’s included.
09
Which features aren't included in the Legacy Fallback License?
No AI or cloud-based features are included in the Legacy Fallback License. Any features released after October 29, 2026, are also excluded.
Please sign in on this page to see everything that comes with the Legacy Fallback License and what’s new to you.
*If you already have these features as a part of a previous base package or feature set purchase you will not lose access to these tools.
10
What happens if I cancel my subscription before I reach 24 months, but I resubscribe later?
If you cancel your subscription before subscribing for 24 consecutive months, your time will be reset to zero. You will need to subscribe for 24 consecutive months before receiving a Legacy Fallback License. If you start or restart a subscription after December 7, 2026, you will no longer be eligible to earn a Legacy Fallback License.
11
Which Legacy Fallback License tier do I get if I changed subscription tiers during the 24 months?
You must hold a specific tier or higher for a continuous 24-month period to earn that tier's fallback. In other words, if you were on Premium for 12 months and Pro for 12 months, you qualify for Premium after 24 months total, and then you’d get the Pro Legacy Fallback License after your 24th consecutive month on Pro. It works the same in reverse: If you start on Max and move down to Pro, you will qualify only for the Pro Legacy Fallback License after your 24th consecutive month (including the time you were subscribed to Max, since everything in Pro is included in Max).
The ability to upgrade to a higher tier and earn a Legacy Fallback License for that tier will end on December 7, 2026.
12
When does the 24-month qualification period for the Legacy Fallback License start?
If you own any Verbum package, your qualifying period started when you began your subscription or free trial.
If you had an early access subscription, your qualifying period started when your early access subscription or free trial began.
If you were migrated from an old subscription and were not on early access your qualifying period started when your new subscription or free trial began.
If you don’t own any Verbum package, you’re not eligible to earn a Legacy Fallback License.
The Legacy Fallback License will be available starting October 30, 2026.
Please sign in on this page to see everything that comes with the Legacy Fallback License and what’s new to you.
13
Will my Legacy Fallback License keep gaining new features if I stay subscribed past 24 months?
Your Legacy Fallback License applies to the two years after our move to subscription in October 2024. When you’ve earned your Legacy Fallback License for staying subscribed for 24 consecutive months, you’ve got all there is. You can sign in and see what’s included here.
14
Does this work the same way for Verbum?
Sure does!
15
Do I need to be online to receive my Legacy Fallback License?
We will process your Legacy Fallback License as a free order on the day you’ve earned it, but you’ll need to be online at least once for the features to unlock permanently.
16
If I was subscribed on my own and then my subscription moved to Verbum for Church or Verbum for Education, do I still qualify?
If you’ve subscribed for 24 months total and would like a Legacy Fallback License, it won’t be granted to your account automatically, but please contact customer support so we can take care of you.
17
I’ve earned a Legacy Fallback License, but I’m not seeing it. Why not?
Thanks for raising that! If you’re not seeing your unlocked Legacy Fallback License, it may be because your two-year anniversary date hasn’t passed yet. Sign in and take a look here, and if that date has passed, you can reach out to our team for help.
Common questions about the
use of AI in Verbum
FAQ
01
Does AI really have a place in Bible study?
Christians have always been at the forefront of technology when it comes to accessing and understanding the Bible, whether adopting the codex in the second century or the printing press in the fifteenth. However, AI has limitations, fallibilities, and biases because it mirrors and sometimes amplifies weaknesses found in all human authors. That’s why Verbum always lets you know when you’re reading AI-generated content. In addition, Verbum’s AI tools are backed by your Verbum library and designed to ensure AI is used responsibly and in a way appropriate for Bible study.
To further explore this topic, you may be interested to read “A Theology of AI by a Bible Software Nerd” by Mark Ward and “How Should We Think about AI & Bible Study” by Mark Barnes, published on Word by Word.
02
Will more AI-assisted features be available through subscription in the future?
We are working to apply the use of AI responsibly so that the Holy Spirit’s leading is always foremost. Within those guidelines, we plan to offer additional carefully selected capabilities incorporating AI assistance. See more about our approach to AI here.
03
Is there a usage limit on AI tools?
To ensure a fair level of access for every user, each subscriber gets a fair usage limit on AI tools each month. The limits are generous—typically, we allow thousands of uses of AI features each month before you hit the limit. The app will let you know when you’re getting close.
04
Can I buy more AI credits À la carte if I run out?
No, but Pro gives you double the credits of Premium, and Max gives you 50% more credits than Pro. In the unlikely event that you use all your AI credits, you can upgrade your plan to increase your credit allotment or wait for your credits to renew at the start of your next month.
05
Does the AI save my data? If so, what is it used for?
Some of our tools allow users to send private documents or copyrighted content to AI services. We only send the specific content the user requests, and we never use this data to train AI, nor do we allow any of our technology partners to do so. We require our technology partners to use this data only for the purposes of our tool and not to retain it longer than is needed for that purpose.
06
When am I getting AI-powered results from my library vs. something else?
We are transparent and open about which parts of which tools use AI so users can choose whether and how to use those tools for themselves. AI-generated content is always clearly indicated so no student or pastor can unknowingly use AI-generated content in their papers or sermons.
07
How does your AI work? Are you using ChatGPT/OpenAI?
We use a variety of large language models and other AI tools and choose each one based on its suitability for specific tasks. We monitor the effectiveness of these models and can quickly switch to better-performing or more reliable models if we discover frequent bias or other adverse issues.
