God's Word Changes Things: Blogger and publisher Trevin Wax on the transformative power of Bible study

For Trevin Wax, teaching a congregation to read the Bible effectively goes beyond distilling information. “Pastors are not ultimately seeking only to deliver information or practical application to people,” he says. “Those are both important, but our overall goal is to lead people to an encounter with God. Worship is the end result, and worship is what motivates us to mission.”

Quenching Thirst: Biju Thomas is meeting physical and spiritual needs in Bihar, India

Bijar, India, is known as “the graveyard of missionaries.” A Hindu-majority northeastern state bordering Nepal, Bihar is known as the birthplace of Muslim Kings, Sikh gurus, and a Hindu goddess; it’s home to the tree under which Buddha achieved enlightenment.

A Message for the Rebels

Ezekiel 2:1–3:11 details the prophet’s unusual commission. One interesting feature of this passage—which sets up the entire book—is the repeated description of God’s people as rebellious (eight times in 2:3, 6, 8; 3:9). This leads us to wonder: What specifi c off enses warrant such a negative characterization?

Whose Sins Caused the Exile?

According to Ezekiel 18, the Lord will judge people on the basis of what they—not their parents—do. But Exodus 20 says God will visit the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and fourth generations. How can we resolve these two views?
